The Feature List

IceBreak is available in three different editions. The Feature List on this page, describes the main differences between the free Community Edition and the payable Server and Enterprise Edition. The Community Edition is freeware and is as such, delivered with a few limitations compared to the Enterprise version - but it can in fact, easily be used in a small production environment.

Applications developed with the Community Edition will at all times be deployed with the source code when moved to other machines with Community Edition installed. So it is fair to say, that the Community Edition appeals more to in-house production environments rather that to commercial developers.

The Community Edition can - in a production environment - be combined with the payable Server and Enterprise editions. But it must always be considered as the lowest common denominator.

 A few examples: 

• Q1: Can applications developed with the Community Edition be deployed in a safe (SOX compliant) environment?  
• A1: Yes, simply install and execute the applications on a machine running IceBreak Server.  
   
• Q2:  Can applications developed with the Enterprise Edition be deployed with e.g. Web Services on a machine running Community Edition?
• A2: No, Community Edition does not support Web Services - so you will need IceBreak Server for that.
   
• Q3:  When can applications developed with the Enterprise Edition be deployed on a machine running Community Edition?
• A3: As long as the features used in the application, are supported in the Community Edition.
   
• Q4:  Can applications developed on a machine using Enterprise Edition, be manipulated on a machine running Community Edition?
• A4: Yes, have in mind that the Community Edition is a development tool.
