IceCap™ is based on the future-proofed Web 2.0 technology that gives your old programs a ‘look and feel’ known from Windows and Mac.
It is also possible to add drop down boxes, check boxes, buttons, calendars, links, graphics and other Web elements. And it can all be done, without the need of additional processing power.

The layout of your different 5250 programs is automatically recorded when you start IceCap.IceCap ™ will then automatically determine which components that is best suited for your new web application. This feature speeds up process of adding an intuitive web-based user interface to your application.
You can, if the new layout does not suit you, even add "hints" to suit your needs. These "hints" can be added at several levels, from overall system rules, right down to each panel and field.
IceCap™ already contains default "hints" about the “i” OS, which is based on the widespread Systems Application Architecture (SAA). A very large number of standard systems and customized solutions do actually follow this standard, and so this dramatically limits the number of additional "hints" needed.
Use of the “Hints” will in short ensure; that you don’t waste large amounts of time and resources making trivial adjustment of the countless panels in your old 5250 applications.
Using the "Hint" feature makes it easy for you to modify web applications for various business purposes. Fields can be removed, inhibited or restricted for update or limited to the standard options via the dropdown panels. Date fields may be supplemented with a calendar - while e-mail and Internet addresses can activate the mail program and Internet browser. New web applications can likewise be integrated with your or other websites and increase your business opportunities.

IceCap™ is designed using the IceBreak ™ technology, and that opens for new possibilities like no other product.
IceCap™ can while the web application is active dynamically call applications via "Breakouts" and access both the Operating System and databases on the IBM i™. This means that the old 5250-programs can be further upgraded by adding new functions - without any program changes to the original program. The new extra functions can be added both in the Client (browser) and the Server side.
"Breakouts" in the Client is written in JavaScript enabling graphics, charts and other Web elements dynamically to be merged into the application. The vast information available on the Internet will hereby become available for commercial applications.
Example: Details on a customer query can be enriched with Financial Statements, Google Map, Public Tax details etc.
“Breakouts” on the server, is written in the familiar programming language, RPG. These "Breakouts" can even use the included API set, to retrieve or update information from other RPG programs - or user "remote control" to activate other RPG programs. This functionality provides a unique opportunity to modify and optimize future workflows. Example: A backorder in the Order Entry program can automatically lead to the creation of a purchase order.
"Breakouts" on server-side are always compiled program objects first time they are used. This ensures optimal performance, and will also guarantee that the program follows the authorization rules defined by the “i” OS (OS400). An IBM licensed RPG compiler is a prerequisite when using "Breakouts".

Visual effects
It is well known, that visual effects can provide an invaluable overview of data collected from applications or from a database.
IceCap™ is integrated with the Fusion Charts Presentation ™ product line. Fusion Charts Free™ will e.g. give you a choice between numerous 2D and 3D bar charts, line charts, pie charts and doughnuts.
